The Declaring Independence is the leaders agreed with Pain that the colonies should be free. June 1776 the Second Continental Congress created a committee to write a document declaring the colonies independence. The Jefferson is the main author of the document. The committee members were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman.

1.) Jefferson argued that all men possess unalienable rights.
2.) King George 3 had violated that colonists rights.
